A phase is a combination of cards, usually made up of sets, runs, or a combination of these. There are ten phases, and players must complete each phase in order.

The dealer shuffles the deck and deals ten cards, face down, to each player. The goal is to complete the phase on each turn.

Players receive credit for making a phase as soon as it is laid down. A player does not need to win the hand to receive credit for the phase. Several players will often complete their phase on the same hand.

Going out and ending the round:

Once you have completed and laid down your phase, you must attempt to play out the remaining cards in your hand. You must always draw one card at the beginning of your turn and discard one card at the end of your turn.

Scoring a round:

Players count up the total value of cards left in their hands, with five points for each card with values 1-9, 10 points for each card with a value of 10-12, 15 points for a skip, and 25 points for a wild. The goal is to have the lowest score at the end of the game.

Finishing the game:

If only one player is attempting Phase Card number 10 on the hand and they complete the phase, they become the winner, and the game ends immediately. If two or more players complete Phase 10 on the same hand, then the player who has completed phase ten and has the lowest total points is the winner. In the event of a tie, the players that tied replay Phase number 10, and the first player to complete their phase and discard all their cards wins.
